Yahoo’s News Digest app for iOS goes live

Yahoo introduced its newest app, the News Digest at the on-going Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. News Digest is currently available on the iOS platform and the app is expected to hit Android eco-system in the coming days.

As the name itself suggests, the News Digest app is designed to deliver the important headlines of the day from across the globe. Yahoo’s algorithms and its editors will pick the news from several sources to keep you posted with all the latest happenings.

Yahoo’s News Digest is basically a developed version of Summly, an app that was purchased by the tech giant in 2013. The app comes with textual summary for each story and includes pictures, quotes from various sources across the web.

Yahoo will be delivering the most important news twice a day to its News Digest app and the company is aiming to become a daily source for news, which most people out there are missing.

In its blog post, Yahoo said “Remember waking up to the local morning news? Coming home to the evening news? Reading a newspaper from front to back page? These formats have been daily habits since the invention of the television and the printing press. We wanted Yahoo News Digest to revisit a content format that when read, led you to a sense of completion and conclusiveness, much like reading the newspaper did.”

The News Digest app is already available in the App Store and you can head on to the source link below to download it.
