Windows Phone 8.1 developer preview launches on April 10

With Windows Phone 8.1 now official, everyone is eager to try it out. Microsoft plans to make the Windows Phone 8.1 Preview available for registered developers on April 10 – eight days from today.

Everybody can register as a developer in the Developer Preview Program by downloading a special app on the Windows Phone Store and sign up for a free App Studio account. This will give you access to install Windows Phone 8.1 weeks before carriers and manufacturers start pushing it to Windows Phone 8 devices. However what you will be getting is a beta version of the software, so if you don’t want to deal with bugs, you might be better off staying away from it.

You can catch the full Windows Phone 8.1 announcement from the ongoing BUILD live stream here. Hint: you can rewind the video as you wish.
