Watch the Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare gameplay video here

I’ll admit, when I first heard about PvZ: Garden Warfare, I wasn’t particularly thrilled at the direction the franchise was taking and it just came across as an attempt by EA to milk it for its popularity. But I must say, having watched the new gameplay video, I’m glad that I was wrong and this might just turn out to be one of the most fun games of all time.

EA showed the Garden Warfare gameplay footage when they announced the game at E3. It is a 3D, third person shooter, as expected but the co-operative multiplayer is what makes this game seem so much fun. In the video below, you will see four players assume the role of four different plants, which are all decked in glorious 3D thanks to the almighty Frostbite 3 engine, the same stuff that is powering Battlefield 4. You play together and fight against the hordes of zombies attacking you.

The different abilities of the plants from the original game have been preserved but given a completely new form in this game that makes them even better. There are also some new plants that you’ll see in the intro video at the beginning.

There may be other modes in this game but the co-operative multiplayer itself looks so much fun that you wouldn’t care if there are other modes or not. The game vaguely reminds me of Team Fortress 2 in the way each plant has different abilities and there is even the sunflower plant who mostly exists to heal other plants.

The game will be releasing first on the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 and hopefully should appear on other platforms as well. Of course, this is a console/PC game, so don’t expect to see it on your mobile devices any time soon. You can check out the full gameplay video below.
