South Korea will keep US data away from Huawei products

Communications between South Korea and the US will be kept away from Huawei products.

The South Korean government vowed to keep their correspondence with the US away from any Huawei equipment after the US voiced concerns about the Chinese manufacturer’s devices.

It’s been rumored that Huawei’s products could be used for spying on behalf of the Chinese government.

The Wall Street Journal reported the following:

“To address these security concerns, South Korea decided to make changes to the project so that sensitive South Korean government communications won’t pass through Huawei equipment .”

The only response South Korean officials had regarding the news was that the matter involved purchase decisions by private companies, so it was out of the Government’s hands. Huawei has not made any comment on the news, either, but the Wall Street Journal’s report has been confirmed by US officials.

Jennifer Psaki of the US State Department had this to say:

“While the United States has expressed concerns in the past, these decisions were made by the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea alone.”

Do you think that Huawei devices pose serious security risks, and/or the company is working with the Chinese government in order to aid in international espionage?
