Skype for Windows Phone gets a compact view

The Skype app for Windows Phone is getting a new update today, which should be live soon in Microsoft’s app store. Aside from the usual bug fixes and unspecified improvements, the new version of the app comes with one feature that’s been much requested by Windows Phone users: a compact mode.

Simply put, this makes fonts and messages smaller inside Skype. So, whereas before you could see a maximum of five contacts at a time, from now on you’ll get at least six on one screen.

And the same goes for the in-conversation view, as you can see from the comparative screenshots below. Much more information can now fit in the same space, meaning less scrolling.

This is obviously a welcome change for haters of wasted space. The new version we’re talking about here is 2.26.0.159. Apparently there still could be some performance enhancements applied to Skype for Windows Phone, but for now you can at least enjoy it in a more compact presentation.
