Nvidia updates Shield Hub with Material Design, 1080p@60fps streaming

Nvidia’s latest update to the Shield Hub brings a new Material Design overhaul with better focus on games and the option to stream games from your Shield device to a TV in 1080p at 60fps quality. There is also the usual bug fixes and performance improvements.

The update affects both the Nvidia Shield gaming device and the Shield Tablet. Shield Hub will now show you more games on the same screen and reduce the need for scrolling.

The My PC Games and GRID tabs of the Shield Hub have moved to a vertically scrollable mode that shows you more games. In keeping with Google’s Material Design the team at Nvidia has added new subtle animations, icons and layers to the UI.

While in Console mode gamers can now stream from the Shield device to a TV at a maximum resolution of 1080p at a higher framerate of 60fps. The new feature will require a 5GHz Wi-Fi n or ac network on hand.

The Grid game streaming service has been updated to offer a more reliable connection as well. The big update should appear on your Nvidia Shield and Shield tablet but Nvidia also urges users to update to the latest version of the GeForce Experience on your PC.
