Nokia Conference beta app gets updated, makes it easier for Lumia-packing business people to join calls

Windows Phone aims to be business friendly and it’s apps like Nokia Conference that make it so. The app is still in beta, but it’s getting closer to proper release – it’s currently at v0.9.5. The app takes out the hassle of joining a conference call, on a WP8-running Lumia it’s as easy as saying “conference join.”

The phone will figure out what call it needs to join based on your schedule. With the latest update, the app can handle recurring calls too, not just ones you got an invite for. Conference also integrates with Microsoft Lync and will launch the app automatically if your company uses it.

Conference automatically detects the settings for the conference call systems of many companies, but you can manually add settings for unknown systems. And you can send those to Nokia Beta Labs to be incorporated into the app.

The dev team is improving the app based on other user suggestions too (that’s part of the beta testing). Other improvements include phone number and ID/PIN parsing logic, longer pauses and other UI tweaks and bug fixes.

Nokia Conference is free for Nokia Lumia phones that run Windows Phone 8 (WP7.5 is not supported). You can download it from Beta Labs (you’ll need a free account).
