iOS 5 beta 5 is out – OTA update once again

The latest Apple iOS 5 beta was released for developers on Saturday – number 5 (build 9A5288d). It’s an OTA update, but if you don’t get that option in the “Software update” settings menu check out some answers after the break.

Aside from the iOS 5 beta itself developers also got the Xcode 4.2 Developer Preview 5, iTunes 10.5 Beta 5 and Apple TV Software beta 4.

The upgrade can be installed over the air, but before doing it you will have to erase the entire content and settings of your device (Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings). It’s strongly recommended that you back up your device before doing so, using your iTunes beta 4 or iCloud so that you can just restore all of your settings later on. According to MacRumors some users have experienced no trouble even without erasing their iPhones.

In terms of novelties – the iOS 5 beta 5 doesn’t bring much besides bug fixes. Here’s a video courtesy of NatesTechUpdate of an iPhone running the new beta.
