Instapaper gets ported to Android

The popular Instapaper app for iOS is now available on Android as well.

If you’re unfamiliar with the app, it lets you take any website and save it in a newspaper-like format for offline reading later. It’s specially designed to support all sorts of screen sizes and aspect ratios, from phones to large tablets – even NOOK and Kindle tablets.

The app comes in its distinct iOS-styled interface, and despite being outsourced to Mobelux by the original Instapaper developer Marco Arment, provides much of the same look and feel as the iOS version.

Some key features are absent, such as the ability to remove the top and bottom Android status bars when reading, or the ability to find more articles from within Instapaper. The pagination effect which takes place during page turns is also not present in the Android version.

Instapaper is available now on the Google Play Store for $2.99.
