HTC One uses Broadcom’s new 5G WiFi modem

The latest HTC flagship, the HTC One, holds inside it some impressive WiFi horsepower in the form of Broadcom’s new 5G WiFi chip.

The BCM4335 is slated to deliver more bandwidth and higher range, all at significantly lower battery costs.

5G WiFi is based upon the IEEE 802.11ac standard and provides better-quality video and media streaming, as well as the ability to connect multiple devices in a network with a broader coverage area.

The 5G WiFi modem is also capable of this performance all while reducing power consumption by up to 83%.

You can get the 5G WiFi-powered HTC One from a wide range of mobile operators globally starting next month. For more on the One, check out our hands-on here.
