HTC One max fingerprint collection method gets detailed by the manufacturer

HTC detailed the fingerprint collection method of the freshly announced One max phablet. In a fashion, similar to Apple’s solution in the iPhone 5s, the Taiwanese manufacturer stores the fingerprint data in the device’s local memory.

When in local memory, the fingerprint data is stored and encrypted in the system partition which cannot be easily accessed or copied. More importantly, the data is not an actual image of the user’s fingerprint, but a set of its characteristics determined by a proprietary algorithm.

HTC can’t access the information and it cannot be used by third parties. Therefore, users can feel quite confident about the way the safety of their biometric information in HTC’s first phablet.
