Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for Nexus 7 available for manual update right now

The question of Android updates might make many users uncomfortable, but not Nexus owners – just as the new Nexus 4 went on sale (and quickly ran out), the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 7 began to roll out. You can read more about the Galaxy Nexus update here.

If you own a Nexus 7 tablet you can update it manually too, if you don’t feel like waiting. To start you need to be running stock 4.1.2 JZO54K (duh) and download the update file from Google’s servers (80MB).

Android Police has detailed instructions for installation with both stock and custom recovery. If “recovery” and “adb” sound scary, you’d better wait for the OTA update.

The update adds the new notification shortcuts, multiuser support, pinch-zooming in Gmail and so on.
