16GB iPhone 4S costs Apple $196 to make, an iSuppli teardown reveals

As usual iSuppli have torn the latest iPhone 4S apart and have revealed some pretty interesting things about its inner hardware parts.

The baseline 16GB model of the iPhone 4S costs Apple a total of $188 for materials only (Bill of Materials or BOM) and only $8 for the manufacturing process.

You can check the whole table of components and their cost of the respective parts below.

One interesting thing to note here is that the price difference in BOM + Manufacturing price between the $16GB and $32GB models is just $19, but Apple sells the latter for a juicy $100 bill more. Mind you, the manufacturing cost doesn’t include other expenses such as software, licensing, royalties, etc.
